January Monarch Butterfly Tours Monarch Butterfly Tours at the Monarch Butterfly Grove. These beautiful orange and black "fairy-like" creatures begin to appear in late October in California's largest Monarch grove. Thousands cluster in our Eucalyptus trees, giving the appearance of golden leaves. The Monarch butterfly grove is located on Highway 1 just south of the North Pismo State Beach Campground. Free admission, parking and docents. Don't miss this spectacular wonder of nature.

March March 26: Easter Egg Hunt Shell Beach Elementary School The Pismo Beach Recreation Division and the Business Improvement Group (BIG) will be sponsoring the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26 at Shell Beach Elementary School. The event starts at 10 a.m. It is free to the public and will occur rain or shine. The event, designed for children 12 and under, will offer egg hunts in five age divisions: 2 and under, 3-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-12 years. There will be special mystery prizes in each age category. Kids can participate in decorating, tossing and balancing the eggs in many planned activities. Children will also enjoy an inflatable slide, face painting, a juggler, caricature artist and many prizes. The Easter Bunny will be visiting so parents are encouraged to bring a camera. This once a month event takes place at Dinosaur Caves Park in Shell Beach along the path where the ocean meets the cliffs. The event takes place the first Sunday of every month May through October (beginning May 1 st , 2005) with over seventy local artists and craftsmen selling and displaying their work. The art include paintings, sculpture, pottery, glass artist, textile, jewelry, wood and metal furniture, and much more. Along with the sale of fine arts, the event offers live music, hands-on children's activities, fresh flowers and plants, BBQ, and on-site massage. May 6: Mother/Son Dance Night The Pismo Beach Recreation Division and Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department are co-sponsoring the third annual Mother and Son Dance. This year's theme is to be determined. The event will be held at the Grover Beach Community Center on May 6, 2005 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in celebration of Mother's Day. Moms and Sons (ages four and older) will enjoy a mysterious and entertaining night. The night will include games, pictures, dancing, dinner, music, contests and cookie decorating. The Grover Community Center is located at 1230 Trouville in Grover Beach. Tickets will be $40 per couple and $18 for each additional son. 4th of July Fireworks on the Pier & Concert Celebrate our nation's independence with live music, food, military bands, clowns and a Grand Fireworks Display from our famous 1,200 foot Pismo Pier.

August 13: Stride with the Tide Run 5K and 10K Fun Run The City of Pismo Beach Recreation Division is holding its annual 5k and 10k fun run. The natural beauty of Pismo Beach's hard-packed sand in the early morning makes this fun run one of the Central Coast's most attractive running events this year. The out-and-back 5k and 10k course is run on Pismo's shoreline. The runs start at 9 a.m., with registration and check-in at 8 a.m., on the south side of the pier. 5k and 10k medals are awarded through third place in the following age divisions: 17 and under, 18 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, and 60 - 74 and a new 75 plus category. The price before August 1 is $15 with a t-shirt and $12 without. After August 1 the price is $20 with a t-shirt and $17 without. After Thursday, August 11 no registrations are accepted until race day due to the necessary pre-registration preparation. Same-day registration begins at 8 a.m. on race day. August 20-22: St. Anthony's Celebration The St. Anthony's Celebration Committee Sponsors this annual event to celebrate the cultural contribution of the area's Portuguese descendants. The parade begins on Sunday at 11am with Sopas being served at the St. Anthony's grounds at 390 Bello St.

October 7-9: Endless Summer Car Show October 15-16 : 59th Annual Clam Festival Join the fun in downtown Pismo Beach. A parade on Saturday morning kicks off this annual event. Followed by a carnival, clam dig, music and food. Famous Clam Chowder Cook-off.
October 28-30: Jubilee By The Sea Jazz Festival This traditional Dixieland Jazz Festival with it's oceanfront setting, offers a weekend of music, dancing as well as 20 bands from the U.S. and Canada. Great Clam Chowder and Santa Maria Style BBQ.
October 29: Pumpkins on the Pier The special Halloween celebration, "Pumpkins on the Pier," will take place Oct. 29, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pismo Beach Pier. A Trick or Treat Extravaganza will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in local downtown businesses. If it rains, the event will be held at the Shell Beach Veteran's Memorial Building, 230 Leeward Street.
Children 12 and under can participate in a costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and watch a magic show by Dr. Magic. There will be ongoing crafts, games, a balloon typhoon, and a lot of excitement. The costume contest for the most original, prettiest, and scariest costumes will start at 12:30 p.m. An adult costume contest will follow.

November 13: Veteran's Day Celebration Celebrate and remember our nation's heroes on Sunday, November 13 for a Memorial Service on the pier.
Monarch Butterfly Tours December December 2: Holiday Harmony and Tree Lighting Ceremony The City Recreation Division's special holiday celebration, "Holiday Harmony", will take place Friday, December 2nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Pismo Beach Pier. Kids will have fun with fresh snow, Santa's Village, a bounce house, cookie decorating and more. Adults will enjoy live music and holiday shopping in local downtown businesses. The holiday tree lighting sponsored by the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce will also be held on December 2 with the actual lighting of the tree to occur at 6 p.m. at the west end of the Pismo Beach Pier. Hot apple cider will be served and Santa will hand out candy canes to the children. Both activities are offered free to the public.
